So what a strange year 2020 was with the pandemic and lockdown. I started working from home mid March, and carried on working from home until I retired at the end of 2021. It really suited me too. I think a lot of people re-evaludated their lives. I realised I don't need to go shopping much any more as I have everything I need. I also really appreciated my home and garden in a way I never had before.
I had a landmark birthday in 2020, but celebrations had to be curtailed to a small meal with immediate family and a friend who shares my birthday, and separate outings with other friends. But that was fine. But my family did come down from Scotland for a few days. And to my amazement my brother Dave said they wanted to see Glastonbury!! So we were able to have a day out there and it was truly a lovely day.
We stopped to get coffees and then had a comfort stop on the motorway, then went the same way the bus from Bristol goes, down through the Mendips which was lovely. We parked at the Abbey. We had a little wander round some of the shops, but as Dave isn't a shopper, it was only quick. My sister in law Kathy and neice Francis did buy a few bits. We had lunch at the pasty cafe, sitting outside in the sun and then went round the Abbey ruins.
Then we went to the Well, and then climbed the Tor. We went up by the path at the bottom of Wellhouse Lane, but came back via the other path and then back down the lane. I think they all liked the Tor best as they are keen walkers.
We went cross country back via Frome and Trowbridge, and on spec phoned the Red Lion in Avebury to see if we could book a table.. and we could. So we stopped there for a meal on the way home
It was a really lovely day.
