Sat 30th July 2011, Visit 70!

Prudence and I went to Glastonbury for a girlie shopping day. Prudence is another individual dresser with her own style, and she loves silver jewellery so I knew she would love the shops there. It was just what I needed too after a long week. We have found out the quickest route from Oxford is A420 to Swindon, which is across country, then M4 Swindon to Bristol, M32 into Bristol, then down the same route that the 376 bus takes. That route is about 2.5 hours compared with 3 hours cross country, or M4/M5 then across country. We got down there about 11.30. We had lunch in the Abbey tea rooms, and afternoon drinks at the Mocha Berry, and a wander round the Abbey ruins but we mainly shopped. Prudence bought an amazing wire collar in Facets of Avalon, and a scarf and brooch at the Abbey shop. Mum insisted on giving me some cash, bless her so I bought a ring set with an amethyst for the ring finger on my right hand, Wendy Andrews 2012 calendar from Wendy herself, she had an exhibition on, and a silver coloured Indian jewellery box. I had been hankering after one for ages but it was one of those things I couldn't really justify so I bought it as a present from mum. I also bought some beads, a Tor pendant and a small faery star pendant. We had a very amusing car journey home eating a packed of Love Hearts sweets with me reading out the captions.

(I have known Prudence for well over 20 years now, and she only lives round the corner from me too)

Mon/Tue 23rd/24th May 2011, visit 69

This was a lovely visit. My friend Arwen came down from Scotland to stay with me for a few days and we started off in Glastonbury. I went down in the day on the Monday and checked us into Little St. Michaels at the Chalice Well, where we had lovely Oak room, the twin bedded room at the back which looks out onto the garden of Little St Michaels. I unpacked and had a cuppa and had a wander round the gardens in the rain, then another  wander round the gardens before meeting Arwen at the bus stop, she flew down to Bristol and got the bus down from there.

We watched the sun set from the Tor, it was cold and windy up there as ever but that never matters, and there was someone flying a kite up there. In the morning we had a lovely wander round the gardens with glittery chocolate muffins for breakfast, and the company of one of the tame little robins. We also did some shopping before heading back to Oxford for a few days
